I was deeply touched by Religious path that Unitarian Universalist Church at Glen Allen is providing. However, with the new born child, I stopped attedning around mid 2007. I'm waiting for the time when I can attend this church again. I wanted to get SLT digitized in here. It's my attempt to learn One of the Western Religion - 2009/1/4 MinsooKim

1, May Nothing Evil Cross This Door

May nothing evil cross this door, and may ill fortune never pry about these windows, may the roar and rain go by.

By faith made strong, the rafters will withstand the battering of the storm. This heart, though all the world grow chill, will keep you warm.

Peace shall walk softly through these rooms, touching our lips with holly wine, till every casual corner blooms into a shrine.

With laughter drown the raucous shout, and, though these sheltering walls are thin, may they be strong to keep hate out and hold love in.

Words: Louis Untermeyer, 1885-1977, (c) 1923, renewed 1951 by Louis Untermeyer, used by perm. of Harcour Brace Jovanovich.
Music: Robert N. Quaile, b. 1867

464, And Then

And then all that has divided us will merge

And then softness will come to a world that is harsh and unkind

And then both women and men will be strong

And then all will be rich and free and varied

And then all will share equally in the Earth's abundance

And then all will nourish the young

And then all will live in harmony with each other and the Earth

Judy Chicago

If it is language that makes us human,
one half of language is to listen.

Silence can exist without speech,
but speech cannot live without silence.

To learn the true power of words
is to learn also the power of silence.

Listen to the speech of others.
Listen even more to their silence.

To listen to another person
is to take seriously their otherness.

To pray is to listen to the revelations of nature,
to the meaning of events.

To listen to music is to listen also to silence,
and to find the stillness deepened and enriched.

Jacob Trapp

556, These Roses

These roses under my window make no reference to former roses or to better ones; they are for what they are; they exist with God today.

Before a leaf-bud has burst, its whole life acts; in the full-blown flower there is no more, in the leafless root there is no less.

But we postpone or remember. We do not live in the present, but with reverted eye lament the past, or heedless of the riches that surround us, stand on tiptoe to foresee the future.

Ralph Waldo Emerson [Adapted]

566, God Is One

In this world there have always been many opinions about faith and salvation.

There must be knowledge in faith also.

Religious reform can never be all at once, but gradually, step by step.

The most important spiritual function is conscience, the source of all spiritual joy and happiness.

We must accept God's truth in this lifetime. Salvation must be accomplished here on earth.

Egy Az Isten1

Francis David adapted by Richard Fewkes

575, A New Manifestation

A new manifestation is at hand, a new hour is come.

A new manifestation is at hand, a new hour is come.

A new manifestation is at hand, a new hour is come.

A new manifestation is at hand, a new hour is come.

When this done, we believe a divine energy would pervade nature to a degree unknown in the history of former ages.

Margaret Fuller.

635, A New Heart

Who can say: I have purified my heart, and I am free from sin?

Cast away all the evil you have done, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit.

For thus says the Eternal God: I, Myself, will search for My sheep, and seek them out.

I will put My spirit within you, and teach you to live by My laws.

ChaimStern

686

Go in peace. Live simply, gently,
  at home in yourselves.
Act justly.
Speak justly.
Remember the depth of your own compassion.
Forget not your power in the days of your powerlessness.

Do not desire to be wealthier than
your peers and stint not your hand of charity.
Practice forbearance.
Speak the truth, or speak not.
Take care of yourselves as bodies,
for your are a good gift.

Crave peace for all people in the
  world, beginning with yourselves,
and go as you go with the dream
of that peace alive in your heart.

Mark L. Belletini
